There are only two requirements for membership:
1. You must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
If you aren’t sure about this you can contact the church office and one of the staff would love to sit down with you and answer your questions.
2. You must be baptized
Baptism serves as a confession of the commitment you already made. It is symbolic. That means we do not see it as necessary for salvation. We require three things for baptism. First, it must be done after salvation. We baptize believers. Second, it must be done by the authority of a church. Third, it must be done by submersion.
What are the methods of joining North Monroe?
There are three methods of membership.
1. Membership by baptism
If you have accepted Christ as your savior but never followed him in believer’s baptism then you can join our church through baptism. Simply come forward at the close of a service and tell a minister your decision. Or if you would prefer you can call the office and a pastor will be glad to meet with you to discuss your decision.
2. Membership by letter
If you are coming to our church from another Baptist church we will receive you on promise of a letter. The letter is simply a note from your previous church that you were a member there. Our church office will contact your former church and they will provide the paper work.
3. Membership by statement
Sometimes people join our church from other denominations, or they have not been involved in church for some time and feel that their former Baptist church would not have a record of membership. They are already Christians and have followed the Lord in believer's baptism but the church they are coming from is not a Southern Baptist Church. In that case we would present you by statement. That simply means that you know Christ and have been baptized.
How can I learn more about what it means to be a member?
We encourage every new member and any prospective member to attend a discovery class. The class meets for a series of three one hour sessions approximately three times a year. Sessions are taught by pastor Bill. You will discover how North Monroe works, and where you can fit in. If you are interested please contact the office for information on the next discovery class.
How do I sign up?
There are three ways to actually join the church. You can come forward at the close of a service. You can schedule a meeting with the pastoral staff. Or you can sign up in the Discovery class
